Summer Fun 054

James was diagnosed with severe autism when he was 2 1/2 years old. He had no verbal communication, he threw constant tantrums, he was not at all interested in other children or adults, and would not allow himself to be held or touched. Since that time, James has made AMAZING progress with the help of his therapists at Toledo Hearing and Speech and his teachers at Rossford Schools.

James is nearly 5 now and his life is so different. He speaks in complete sentences, he wants to play with peers, he makes some eye contact, he asks questions, he loves to be held and cuddled, he will initiate conversation, and most importantly…he is HAPPY! He smiles most of the time now and his tantrums are few and far between. James still has a long road ahead of him, but we believe he can do it!

We are participating in this walk because we believe in the programs that are available for children on the autism spectrum. We have met so many wonderful people that were willing to help us out when we were feeling so helpless and lost – not knowing which way to turn. We are happy for this opportunity to help as many others as we can and to help make a difference in the lives of children on the spectrum by participating in the iMazing Race! Thanks Project iAm! And thank you to all of the wonderful people at Toledo Hearing and Speech for all you’ve done for James!
